Here & There

The British labour force was built on the backs of Caribbean people. Here & There follows women— nurses and teachers—who left their homes searching for a better future in the UK. Through their stories, we uncover the invisible labour they perform—not just in hospitals and classrooms but within their own families.

Set against the landscapes of London, Birmingham, and Manchester, the documentary captures their daily lives— early-morning bus rides and late-night shifts. In contrast, we journey to Jamaica, where their families—ageing parents, children, and grandchildren—wait and deal with the absence that migration has forced upon them.

Using a combination of interviews, archival footage, and reflective narration, Here & There explores the emotional cost of migration. What does it mean to be a mother when an ocean separates you? What does it mean to provide for your family?

This is a story about sacrifice, longing, and resilience.
